I am a real estate developer and a general contractor. I just put $102,000 of furniture in a new development in the wells county area. After speaking with my friend, Noah Cook, another local real estate developer, I decided to not even consider giving Ossian Furniture a bid. He encouraged me to get on here, and give Ossian a bad rating. Based upon my experience, the word on the street, and the overall poor reputation of this business I would never work with them.
UPDATE: Within a short time of posting this review, the owner Kevin called me. He set up an appointment for me with Jacob. Today Jacob came and fixed the footstool. (I'm not pleased with the overall quality of this piece now but it is what I ordered). I was very pleased with the response from Kevin and the job Jacob did today. Wish this had happened earlier as I told a lot of my friends about the lack of response from the company.
Noah did a good job trying to help with that situation. It was unfortunate that Ossian Furniture was not able to resolve our issue.
I must comment after my friend recently had a terrible experience with this store as well. Around two years ago, we received a piece of furniture that was damaged, we proceeded to return it to the store. The purchasers never signed for the piece of furniture, therefore we were not bound to any type of legal contract. Update: We had to pay a restocking fee which amounted to around $600. We were given the runaround by management and the owner. Never, ever go to Ossian Furniture! Terrible customer service! It's too bad for them, as well as the consumers in Wells County, that Ossian Furniture has not changed its greedy business practices over the past 2 years.
Customer service is lacking severely, that is absolutely correct. Resolving any type of product issue will be a gigantic hassle. It will almost surely end in a zero sum game (one side loses and one side wins) in the favor of Ossian Furniture. The other review which mentions "greed" being prevalent in this business is spot on.

I purchased a special order footstool earlier this year. It hasn't been used at all and is more a decoration than furniture. On Thanksgiving my 60# niece came in for a family meeting and sat on the corner of the footstool. The board under the cushion broke with an ear shattering crack. I called Ossian on November 25 and was assured that Jacob would be in touch. Since then I have called twice and was assured again that someone would contact me. It is now December 19. I explained in my last call that I just wanted answers...would they fix the stool...would they take it back...are they overloaded and it will be awhile...?? Two of the three people I talked to were very pleasant but there seems to be a gap somewhere.
